Buttons n Bows aims to be one-stop shop

NORWICH -

A new shop in the village of Norwich is offering residents a local option for their maternity, baby and child shopping needs.

The Buttons n Bows Boutique opened March 16 and features an array of clothing and supplies for expectant mothers, babies and children.

The store is located across from Kaylia women’s clothing store at 8 Stover St. in Norwich, and features a playroom to occupy children while their parents shop.

“The response has been very good. Everyone seems to love it,” says co-owner Hanneke Da Costa.

Da Costa’s business partner is actually her sister-in-law, Michele Bos, who also owns the Step & Style shoe store in Norwich.

“We both have business minds so it’s been really good,” says Da Costa. “We’ve been putting in long hours, but it’s been worth it.”

Da Costa says the store has been slowly filling up since they opened last month and they hope to stock an even wider array of products come fall.

The pair also has plans to move into selling toys, something Da Costa hopes will mean one-stop shopping for parents.

“You’ve got everything local now. You’ve got your shoe store, you’ve got kids stores, and you want a bit of everything. And it’s great if you can get it all in Norwich.”

The store is open Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
