A teen from St. Catharines, Ont., hopes to become the youngest person to swim across Lake Ontario.
Trinity Arsenault will begin her adventure at Queen's Royal Park in Niagara-On-The-Lake at 6 p.m. local time Sunday and swim for almost 20 hours.
Her mother Christine Arsenault also swam the lake in August 2011. If her daughter makes it to the shores of Marilyn Bell Park in Toronto, they also become the first mother-daughter combination to complete the 52-km journey.
The 14-year-old hopes to raise $10,000 for Canadian Tire's JumpStart program, which provide subsidies and financial assistance to athletes who need money to participate in their sport.
On the Facebook page, Trinity's Lake Ontario Swim 2014, Jen Cleland posted: "Good luck Trinity Aarsenault!!!! May you have perfect weather, calm water, strength and determination to help you reach your goal!!! You CAN do this!!!! Your a very inspiring young lady and were rooting for you!!!! Go trin go!!!!"
