SARNIA, Ont. - A woman in the Sarnia, Ont. area has won big in a hospital lottery -- for the second time.
Marcy DiMaria and her business partner Mary Anic were the $1 million grand prize winners Thursday in the Dream Lottery, a fundraiser supporting hospitals in London, Ont.
"I'm just so excited," DiMaria said on the phone from London where they travelled Thursday just hours after hearing they'd won.
Back in 1999, DiMaria and her husband Frank won the "dream home" prize in a hospital fundraising lottery in Sarnia.
"Lightning does strike more than once," she said.
"We're so blessed, so blessed."
The couple sold the house and used some of the money to take their four children and their spouses on a three-week trip to the Mediterranean.
"I wanted to share the good fortune," DiMaria said.
DiMaria and her husband have owned several businesses in Sarnia over the years and regularly buy charity lottery tickets, she said.
Two years ago, Frank fell ill and "the health care system absolutely came through 100% for us," DiMaria said.
Frank is well again, and Wednesday they celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary.
"We're having a couple of good days," DiMaria said.
The couple owns Sissio's Pizza along with Anic, who shared in the latest lottery win.
DiMaria said Anic came to her asking if they should buy a ticket for the London Dream Lottery.
"I said, 'Oh golly yes, let's try again.' You just never know when God's going to be good to you."
Some of their staff at Sissio's also bought a ticket and DiMaria said she and Anic have already decided to share something with them.
