Nickelback forced to axe world tour due to Chad Kroeger's throat surgery
Rockers Nickelback have scrapped their entire world tour so frontman Chad Kroeger can recover from throat surgery.
The How You Remind Me hitmakers cancelled their North American trek after medics discovered a cyst in Kroeger's throat, and the band was due to return to the stage to kick off a world tour on September 30.
However, those dates have now been axed because doctors have advised Kroeger to rest his voice "for the next six to nine months in order to fully recuperate" following surgery, according to a message posted on the band's website.
The group issued an apology to fans, writing, "Most of all, we are sorry to miss our fans out on the road this fall, but Chad's health, healing and full recovery are what is most important right now. With the proper amount of time, we hope to have him back stronger and better than ever before. We thank everyone for their support and understanding during this time and look forward to getting back out on the road and playing music for everyone again real soon."
The website post also confirms the surgery went well and doctors are "pleased with the results".
The trek was scheduled to run from September to December.
