Peewee LL Knighthawks off to an even start

The Oxford Source for Sports Norwich peewee LL Knighthawks are off to a 2-2 start this season.

Game 1 had the Knighthawks visit Six Nations to take on the Blackhawks #1 team Oct. 14. It was a tight game that saw the Knighthawks fall behind early but fight back and make a close game out of it. Despite a strong effort by goalie Justin Hainer, Norwich came out on the wrong side of a 4-3 loss. Goal scorers for Norwich were Owen Schermerhorn with two and Owen Phelps with one. Assists from Kyle Hainer and Brodie Breakwell with two each.

Game 2 saw Norwich host the Tillsonburg Tornadoes 3 for Norwich’s home opener Oct. 15. It was another tightly played game that saw both teams trade opportunities. This time the Knighthawks prevailed with a 4-3 victory. Norwich goal scorers were Graece Fowler with three and Connor Legge with one. Assists coming from Fowler, Phelps with two, and Brodie Breakwell.

Game 3 was in Burford against the Burford Coyotes 2 Oct. 21. Norwich was hitting on all cylinders for most of the game, creating scoring opportunities on a frequent basis. While Burford did create some offence of their own, goalie Justin Hainer was strong in net to keep the Coyotes to only two goals, while Norwich found the back of the net four times and pulled out a big 4-2 win. Knighthawk goal scores were Schermerhorn with a hat trick and Fowler with one. Helping with assists were Breakwell and Fowler.

Game 4 was Oct. 22 in Delhi against the Delhi Rockets 3 team. It was apparent from almost the start that the Knighthawks were in tough and they were in for a long game, giving up a lot of offensive chances to Delhi early. While Norwich played a stronger second half of the game, in the end the Knighthawks were overwhelmed and took a 9-1 loss. The lone Norwich score was a beautiful goal by Kyle Hainer on a nice set-up by Breakwell.
