All five candidates have been confirmed debate on May 15
With the provincial election looming, candidates will get a chance to sound off on local issues.
All five announced candidates have confirmed their participation in the debate on May 15 at Cowan Park from 7-9:30 p.m.
Progressive Conservative Incumbent Ernie Hardeman, Liberal James Howard, New Democrat Tara King, Libertarian Chris Swift, and Robert Van Ryswyck of the Ontario Alliance will each get a chance to speak on issues and answer questions from the public.
The debate is being moderated by Brent VanParys and questions will be asked by a three-person panel consisting of representatives from Heart FM, the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce, and the Woodstock Sentinel-Review.
The format will consist of each candidate receiving two minutes for opening remarks, followed by each member of the panel asking three questions of every candidate.
Kim Whitehead, general manager Woodstock Chamber of Commerce, said that the questions being asked will be chosen by those submitted by the public prior to the event.
Questions are asked to be emailed to Whitehead for review at firstname.lastname@example.org.
“We want to ensure that the questions are valid for the provincial election,” explained Whitehead.
During an intermission, the public in attendance will get a chance to submit questions of their own to be asked by the panel.
Following the public questions, candidates will have two minutes for closing remarks.
