Being a graphic designer can be a good job. Although it takes a couple of time to become a good artist, creating designs can bring serious amount of income. Actually, there are thousands if not millions of graphic artist in the world today. But then, there are only a few who really excel in this field. Some artists have the abilities to mix colors, draw designs and sketch drafts while others were proficient in creating logos.

In today’s world, anyone could be a graphic designer. It doesn’t matter if you’re good in arts or not. It doesn’t matter if you’re not good in blending colors or in sketching drafts. With the cutting edge technology, anyone can sit beside his or her PC and creates a sort of designs. On the other hand, designing a logo can also be a good source of income. Logos are mostly used as a trademark of a specific company. Logos can come up with different colors, styles, message and appeal. What makes a good logo therefore? Well, there are five things that an artist should consider in order to create excellent designs.

5 Principles of Effective Logo Design

1. Simple

As the saying said “simplicity is beauty”. Yes, there are simple logos yet look appealing in the eyes of many. When creating a logo, it could be better if you use simple designs so that it can be easily recognize. Apart from being simple, it should be natural and no footsteps of imitations.

2. Memorable

Aside from being simple, it could be better is the logo is memorable at all cost. Why is it McDonalds so popular? The reason is actually simple. It’s because the logo’s design is memorable to many individuals. When you say a logo with red background and yellow letter “M” on the center, people will easy answer MacDonald.

3. Timeless

An excellent logo should be timeless. You can say timeless if it’s stands the test of time, perhaps 10, 20 or 30 years older.

4. Versatile

In creation a logo, it should be versatile in the sense that people will appreciate it whether it is in horizontal or vertical view. The logo should be in vector format to ensure that it will fit in any size.

5. Appropriate

Obviously, it is important that a logo is appropriate to the company’s theme. Let’s say for instance, you’re going to create a logo of a children’s store then you have to use childish font and color scheme.
